Derry

The artwork that started the Aldo Designs journey.
Derry was the very first original artwork I created in the style that would become Aldo Designs. Cut and carved by hand from reclaimed oak floor boards, this highland cow marked the beginning of a journey that would change my life.
Originally shared on tiktok, Derry was purchased by the main contractor overseeing the renovation of Knockderry castle in Scotland. It was presented to the owners David & Chelom, in recognition of the generosity they had shown throughout the restoration project.
Their reaction is something I never expected.
After seeing derry, they purchased the entire collection, before even seeing the second, of 8 pieces, in the now private collection, titled simply The Knockderry Collection. Every piece is now named after a Scottish castle.
Looking back, Derry represents far more than my first highland cow. It represents taking a chance, trusting my creativity and discovering that reclaimed timber could be far greater than I had imagined.
This was my beginning.
